I was riding a jeepney going to a place I planned to go to do some errands on a busy afternoon.
I paid my fare by passing it to a co-passenger who in turn passed it to another co-passenger until it reached the jeepney driver. I waited for a change to be returned to me since I know I did not pay an exact amount of fare.
A couple of seconds went by, I suddenly noticed this cute little girl who sat on the lap of her mother I presume. She began acting out with her mouth from which I thought she was talking with another person she knows who is seated in front of her.
It was like she was imparting a message I could not decipher.
And then it took sometime before I realized she was just letting all out a song lyrics from a familiar Filipino song currently being played in a radio in the same jeepney. That’s when I really get what she was doing!
I was kind of amused at her because of her facial expressions while singing the song with her feelings. She looked as if she really understood its meaning and even knew the lyrics by heart.
I started to wonder if this cute little kid was aware she’s being watched and she appeared like she did not care at all as long as she sings along with the song.
Suddenly, I found myself grinning amusingly. I remember myself also doing what the young lass did but in a barely simple manner. Most people in my younger days would even say that when you sing along feeling the song, you are acting as if you are in your own MTV!
And sometimes I can’t help not just listening to it but also humming a few lyrics from a song. There are some days like when I’m strolling in the mall or riding in a bus or any means of transport, I feel like barely singing especially when I hear my favorite tune.
The song I was referring to became one of the much loved Philippine theme songs for a Korean TV series that was shown in our country.
Judging by its book cover I must say I might not be initially drawn to read the book. Frankly, I am not familiar with the author since I got more exposed to reading books from other popular authors I know such as Bruce Wilkinson, Joyce Meyer, John Maxwell, and Bo Sanchez.
More than the cover of the book itself, I was interested to read Patawaran’s work because a friend has recommended it as a good read not only for experienced and aspiring writers alike but also to those who want to improve their written English skills.
Upon learning about this I headed to the nearest bookstore and asked my mom to buy it for me as a birthday gift last year! Since I have read lots of inspirational books, I thought to myself why not try something different this time.
What I find surprising when I started reading the book was it took me a day reading just one chapter. It was something unusual for me because I would finish reading a not so thick book in just a day or two.
I believe it helped that I took time reading every chapter in separate days because my learning was focused on a particular subject. Whenever I encounter difficulty understanding a sentence or paragraph, I would reread them until I can fully get the author’s message. It was like my mind has been retrained to appreciate another writing style, which I am not used to come across compared to my previous readings.
To sum, the book is indeed worth reading for me since I find it a learning tool to help me improve my writing skills. There is also a possibility that I will go over with the book the next time and I believe I would still learn more from it.
This would be my first post where I will share about my addiction with a K-Pop group ~ the Girls Generation! Initially, I did not like them because they are so girly! But then I fell in love with some of their Korean songs though I hardly understand the meaning of the lyrics since it’s in Korean language. This particular ballad song just had an impact on me I don’t know why. I found the song haunting in an extraordinary way that I can even dance to its beat in my own dramatic way. The lyrics of the song which I currently fancy is actually in Japanese since they also have original songs promoted in Japan. Anyway, I’m already one of their fans as well!
Another version of the song has also caught my sight and beautiful ears via Youtube. I found this beautiful rendition in instrumentals moving and relaxing just by listening to the sounds of the piano and cello playing harmoniously together.
One of my favorite worship songs from Hillsong is called Through It All. This song hold special place in my heart. Why? Because whenever I feel down, I always get myself to listen with this song more intently. I also love its meaningful lyrics especially the first few lines like “You are forever in my life you see me through the seasons…”. For me this whole song is an assurance that God will always be there for me no matter what.
The first time I heard it I was immediately in love with it. Who would think I would like such instrument which is part of an orchestra? Every time I see a picture of an orchestra, my eyes would instantly be glued in only one instrument. And I especially like its majestic look. Guess what, I love hearing the sound of a harp! My interest started when my brother and I played in a piano keyboard. It is because of this sound that I’ve became hooked in really playing a beautifully made piano composition, Canon by Pachelbel. What I also like about the harp is I find its sound so heavenly that you would think an angel is beautifully playing it. Because of this, I would really love to hear someone playing a harp up close in my own eyes. I also hope to be able to get hold of a golden harp. That’s how I imagined it to be like.
