I felt guilty that I was not able to post daily in my WordPress blog before. But early this year I resurrected my blogging interest sharing things I derive mostly from my past personal experiences, my own personal thoughts, and to WordPress.com’s Daily Prompt. There were even times when I also clicked the “Inspire Me” link (via posting New Post found top right of blog page) just to help me squeeze out my thoughts into blog writing.
It’s nice to be prompted again with such a question whether I have fulfilled my goal of daily posting. Well I did last March 2013 where I managed to keep up despite staying up late. Blog writing is definitely a challenge more so posting daily. A couple of times I kept asking myself why I still blog. It’s no joke to write about a topic of interest even when I’m prompted to answer a question. There are times that I’m not comfortable sharing it or I find myself having difficulty translating my thoughts into written words.
But being able to come up with a great post is something fulfilling on my part as well. It just feels great to have successfully put into writing what I have in mind. And then I will realize that I have already written not only sentences but a couple of paragraphs much to my surprise and delight!
I once read an article that writing daily is good since it helps one to be reflective on what has happened in his/her daily life. What’s even more pleasing is to be able to read previous posts realizing I wrote something I never thought I have something to share and even inspire.

Why am I Blogging Anyway?
Why do you blog?
This is a great question since I’ve also asked that to myself often. I may have missed blogging for a couple of days because of my so-called busyness still I look forward to visiting this site checking some new posts from other bloggers, reading news from WordPress.com news, and exploring myself in WordPress dashboard.
I must say I am enjoying every minute of my stay in WordPress since I get to learn many things which I never imagined the first time I tried blogging here almost two years ago. Blogging from Blogger to WordPress was a huge adjustment for me since I was used to a much easier layout. But since I heard lots of good things here in WordPress from way back then, I took a plunge and started blogging which also prompted me to participate in the Daily Post challenge thereby encouraging myself to post more often at the same practicing my English writing skills.
Then I took a break from blogging for several months and became preoccupied with pursuing other talents I am also passionate about. I exposed myself with improving my singing, dancing which led me to participate in a cheer dance competition and singing in front of a huge crowd in a conference in our community until I reconnected myself with WordPress blogging where I still find myself continuously learning and discovering new things. When I am able to post successfully for a day, that feeling of fulfillment gives me joy.
For the past several months, I’ve been used to seeing my blog with the old theme and I never thought I would come to a decision to change its look lately. I was in love with WordPress’ Selecta theme before since I found the featured photo appealing to me as it showed in my blog.
Until I tried to create a gallery blog post from my previous post, I was surprised to find out that the gallery photo did not show up! I searched on the web and to WordPress.com only to realize that Selecta theme only showed photos in single-image view. My heart got shaken since it meant I have to choose a new theme so that the gallery post photo I recently tried would appear as it should be.
Since I was also into thinking to change my blog theme, I took the opportunity to look for other themes which I think would best fit what I really wanted. The widgets I used must be somehow close to the old theme I used for my blog. It’s really a good thing there is a live view for every WordPress theme since that way I can see if the formatting especially the embedded photos would still look good. Other themes I tried looked like a disaster for me since most of the featured photos disappeared out of nowhere which I did not like.
And so I kept on looking for a suitable blog theme until I found this current theme which I also personally customized. It was definitely a good decision for me though since the new blog theme somehow lighted up the way I look at my blog right now. While revamping my blog I also noticed some changes in WordPress.com’s dashboard particularly under Appearance>>Menu which coincided to the recent news shared from Daily Post at WordPress.com about the improved Menus.
So my journey towards changing my blog theme also became a reflective thought for me as I look forward to more improvements into my life perspectives.
I still caught myself asking the same question. But who am I not to blog anyway?
Frankly speaking, I am actually feeling happy seeing some results with my blogging in WordPress. I must admit I had some hesitations to pursue blogging here. I was not comfortable using WordPress’ dashboard. I still think Blogger is much easier to use.
When I started creating my blog in WordPress, it felt like the first time I used Facebook. It was an awkward feeling. I was technology challenged to use something new especially when navigating through the site. I would even get impatient and frustrated not to find what I am looking for.
For the second time around, I started liking WordPress especially when I discovered something I did not notice before. I have also written it in my post, Blogging Fixes, where I listed a few steps how to show up ‘Sharing’ in your posts. Oh I really love that! Just imagine me patting my back for a job well done.
Indeed, great things come to those who have persevered and become patient. I am happy that I have overcome and now welcoming these changes as new learning.
Going back to the title of my post, why am I blogging anyway? Aside from developing a habit to write more often, I believe blogging could help me stretch more my writing potentials. I also believe it is my purpose to spread some positivity through my posts. Life is Beautiful!
Today, I had some minor fixes in my WordPress blog. I wondered how the Share button is activated but I could not see it in my posts. Funny. I even tried to search it from the web only to personally discover it to myself!
Moving forward, I would like to share the following steps on how to activate ‘Sharing’ in your WordPress blog posts:
(1) Go to your Blog’s Dashboard.
(2) Look for the word Settings. (It can be found in the bottom left of your page.)
(3) Click ‘Sharing’.
(4) Choose which of the available services (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, etc.) you like to enable for sharing.
(5) Drag each service to the ‘Enabled Services’ box.
(6) Click SAVE CHANGES.
I hope the above steps have been helpful. I believe this is just one of my learning adventures here in WordPress. And I am actually enjoying every bit of it.
